Our Bill is Being Heard!
It has been a challenging legislative session with no news until now. Thousands of bills have been written this session, and relatively few get a hearing. We are thrilled that SF3128 (Sen. Kunesh) / HF (#TBD) (Rep. Clardy) finally got officially introduced in the public record today and will have a brief hearing this Wednesday, April 2 in the
Senate Education Finance Committee at 8:30am in room 1150 of the Senate Building.
The 2025 Increase Teachers of Color Act builds upon our
historic achievements during the 2023 session

by focusing on establishing the Aspiring Teachers of Color Scholarship Program in statute and calls for a $10 million investment of surplus money to support some 1,000 scholarships for each of the next two fiscal years. The bill also renews funding for Closing Education Opportunity Gap grants to schools, and makes some amendments to the Collaborative Urban and Greater MN Educators of Color grant program.
